STORY #23: Who Were the First Neighbors? — Country Club, 1927

In September 1927, the Omaha World-Herald published the names of many of the first people who purchased lots in Omaha’s newest and most talked-about neighborhood.

Doctors. Realtors. Educators. Young families starting out — and some of Omaha’s most recognizable business leaders — all invested in the rolling hills of the former Country Club grounds.

Nearly 100 years later, these pages offer a remarkable snapshot of the moment the neighborhood began.

Take a look closely.

Do you recognize a family name?

Was one of these buyers the original owner of your home?

Or maybe even a relative?

We would love to hear what you discover.
